In an era of technological disruptions, democracies are facing historical challenges. The International Partnership for Information and Democracy aims at developing systemic responses to confront information chaos by implementing democratic safeguards in the global space of information and communication.
DEMOTRUST – dedicated to combating fake news, misinformation and extremism – is expected to cooperate and develop actions with organizations in North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the European Union in order to promote institutional trust, the right of citizens to correct and quality information, in the public sphere in an era of multiple challenges – especially in the field of digitalization.
Announced at the AI Action Summit in February, in Paris, the Worldwide Alliance for AI and Democracy is now officially launched. This initiative will unite key actors – civil society, academia, NGOs, innovators, and institutions – and drive concrete initiatives to enhance democratic resilience and amplify collective impact.
We are proud to announce that DEMOTRUST is now a member of the Worldwide Alliance for AI and Democracy, to ensure that artificial intelligence serves the public interest and strengthens democratic values. DEMOTRUST supports institutions, civil society organizations, and thought leaders dedicated to molding the growth and governance of artificial intelligence in ways that uphold human rights, advance transparency, and encourage inclusive public debate as a part of this worldwide coalition. The fundamental goal of DEMOTRUST is to enable people and institutions to negotiate the digital age with confidence, integrity, and democratic resilience. This alliance reflects that goal. Together, we hope to create a future in which artificial intelligence is not only creative but also ethical, responsible, accountable, and very closely aligned with democratic values.
The European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) is a Brussels-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering EU citizens by promoting their rights—such as freedom of movement and access to social benefits—and enhancing democratic participation across Europe. For over 30 years, ECAS has provided multilingual legal support through services like Your Europe Advice, helped citizens launch initiatives via the European Citizens’ Initiative Support Centre, and developed digital democracy tools to foster civic engagement. Its mission is to build a more inclusive, transparent, and citizen-centered European Union by bridging the gap between institutions and the public.
